Context:
A robust and growing local economy underpins the revenue streams of George society and, given a balanced framework, should be encouraged.

Outcomes:
- Following the completion of the Rosemoor Stadium with the associated enhancement to sport and tourism opportunities, concerns were raised as to the apparent lack of associated infrastructure (parking, ablutions & appropriate equipment) to utilise the R 40 m investment. A request for information was submitted; a meeting to engage the accountable directors was held on June 19th;
- Several engagements with community-based business persons were held, and strategies were exchanged with follow-up meetings requested.
Actions Planned:
- A request for information was lodged with the municipality to address concerns surrounding the apparent failures in the Rosemoor Stadium project to ensure maximum impacts via the sport master plan, which was be explored in a June meeting;
- The master economic development plan will be requested, as especially at district level, it would appear that authorities are engaging in commercial activities beyond their respective mandates and competencies.
