The increasing level of urbanisation of George is impacting the quality of life, and while several initiatives/groups are active in this space, GRPA will support and consolidate these initiatives if so requested.

Outcomes:
- A meeting with several key role players was attended, and GRPA’s methodologies are now well understood;
- The panel of advisors is operational, with several civic organizations utilizing the engagement with authorities established by GRPA to raise their concerns;
- A request for information regarding Rapid Urbanisation was lodged to obtain insight into the regulatory framework that guides but also protects the environment, resulted in a constructive meeting, which will be utilized to promote environmental concerns.
Actions Planned:
- Questions raised via the Annual Report regarding key indicators that indicate a below-expenditure trend on infrastructure maintenance, which puts the services grid at risk and has associated environmental outcomes, are scheduled for discussion in the June meeting.
